Put simply, the “A” is just a water choke version, and the “E” is the electric choke version. The DFAV and DFEV are the same basic carburetors, BUT the “A” stands for “Aqua”, or water. We suggest that you get a Genuine Weber Progressive DFAV/DFEV Carburetor. If you have an EMPI progressive, understand that is a Chinese copy of a Weber DFAV/DFEV.
